May Meeting--just around the corner!

Our May meeting will be Tuesday, May 27 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W. 3rd South Street in Summerville. The program will be taught by Eileen and involves knitting with beads!  If you'd like to participate, here are the supplies you need to bring:

  • Size 7 circle needle on a 16 inch cord
  • 120 yards of worsted weight yarn,
  • 24 pony beads
  • Size C crochet hook

Social Half Hour begins at 6 with snacks (I hear there will be an amazing pound cake!) and the meeting will start promptly at 6:30.  If you recall from April, we are condensing the business portion of the meeting to give more time to the programs.  If there are any committee reports, email them to me at knitoasis@gmail.com or to the Guild mailbox flowertownknittingguild@gmail.com and we will get those sent to all members before next Tuesday!

Hope to see you all then!

Programs from Feb and March: Knitted Flowers and Magic Loop Knitting

In February, Angela taught us how to make adorable knitted flowers. Some of the members brought completed flowers for a photo op at the March meeting:

Claudia sent in some pics of her wristlets that she started on Tuesday night at the Guild meeting during Lynn's Magic Loop program--and one of the finished project! Yay! Thanks again Lynn for teaching and thanks to Claudia for the photos!

New Location!

Announcing!

The Flowertown Knitting Guild—NEW Location!

Due to our growth during our first fabulous year, we have overflowed the accommodations so graciously lent to us by The Village Knittery.  Starting this month, our meetings will now be held at Bethany United Methodist Church.  We will have space there to spread out during our programs so we can continue to learn and grow throughout the upcoming year (and beyond).

Pictured below is a map showing directions from The Village Knittery to Bethany, located at 118 W. 3rd South Street in Summerville.

Meeting will begin at 6:30 as usual, but plan to come early if you can to take part in our new “Pre-Meeting Social Time”  beginning at 6:00. Parking: If you are facing the front of the church, you’ll be parking in the lot that is on the right of the big sanctuary building.  Come in the door under the portico in the left corner (as you approach the building from the parking lot.)  Guild Greeters will be on hand to point the way.

February 2014 Guild Meeting--one week away!

After the icy mess of January that cancelled our meeting, please join us on February 25 to learn to make this adorable flower.  The program is free to members and first-time guests and will take place directly following the business portion of the meeting.  It makes me feel like Spring is just around the corner!

The materials you will need to make this flower are:
Size 8 double-pointed needles, a tapestry needle and 3 locking stitch markers.  Our instructor has been gracious enough to supply kits which will include the yarn needed to make one flower.

ALSO! Please bring your completed 2014 Guild Membership forms and your member fees of $20.

We have a great year planned and you do NOT want to miss a single thing!

Can't wait to see everyone next Tuesday (Feb. 25! Don't forget!)!

Kicking Off a Great Year!

Silk Scarf dyed in one of Pat's classes.
It's January and that means it's time for our Big Kick-Off Event! The talented, fun, super-creative Pat Lorenz of Bird Mountain Creations is coming with her Bag Dye a Silk Scarf class and you do NOT want to miss it! Cost for the class is $20 and includes all materials, including dyes and one scarf.  If you would like to dye more than one scarf, bring extra money!  I have it on good authority that it's hard to stop with just one.

We will also be renewing memberships for the new year. Bring your membership form and check for $20 made payable to Flowertown Knitting Guild.  We have a fantastic year planned so you want to be a part of all the fun!

Bring a friend and join us for a great evening of beauty and creativity!
